The Derby is a Group One race run at Epsom Downs in June and is the showpiece contest of the entire Flat season in the UK.First run in 1780, The Derby is now Britain's richest race and while it is open to colts and fillies, it's contested by colts mainly with the best three-year-old fillies lining up in The Oaks the day before at Epsom.
